Holiday/Christmas Marketing Checklist

November 26, 2015

As the festive season quickly approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement, and as a result neglect some areas of your marketing, or leave them until the last minute.

Here’s a few reminders in a handy checklist to make sure you’ve covered your marketing bases in the lead up to the Christmas and New Year break.

Do you need to pause your online ad campaigns?

If your online advertising conversions are focused around customer enquiries, be it phone calls, emails, or online forms, then it’s probably best you pause your campaigns while your office is closed.

Spending money on PPC ads while you’re phones and emails are unattended is a quick way to waste money.

Check ads for dates and deadlines.

Do any of your ads contain wording relating to the current year? This is particularly common in the travel and automotive industries. The last thing you want is to have last ads running in January referring to specials that ended in December!

Set up auto-response emails.

There’s nothing worse than sending an email, only to be ignored. Out-of-office emails are quick and easy to set up, and show you’ve taken the effort not to leave clients (or potential clients!) hanging. In your email, don’t forget to include the dates you’ll re-open, and also emergency contact details should the need arise.

Voicemail

Along with your out-of-office emails, don’t forget to record and activate a pre-recorded phone message for anyone that happens to call while you’re closed.

Send out a Christmas email to your clients!

Last but not least, the lead up to Christmas is a great time to connect with your clients. Let them know your plans, and ask them theirs! Sending them an email announcing what dates you’ll be closed is far better than them finding out you’ve closed after reaching your out-of-office email or voicemail.

Check you’re ready for January.

If you have ad campaigns or website changes planned for the beginning of next year, it’s advised to make sure everything is ready before this year ends. This includes your creative, your ad copy, and anything else you might need. This way you can hit the ground running in 2016!
